Legal Team Approaches the Administration for a Pardon for Sean “Diddy” Combs

An attorney representing Sean “Diddy” Combs confirmed that they have reached out to the current administration discussing the possibility of a presidential pardon. This comes despite indications from the President that he may not be inclined to grant such clemency.

Nicole Westmoreland, part of Combs’ legal team, stated that they have had conversations with officials in the federal government about a pardon following Combs’ conviction on two prostitution charges in July. He was acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering.

In an interview, Westmoreland explained, “We’ve initiated discussions about a pardon.”

Meanwhile, President Trump indicated he is leaning against granting a pardon, citing past hostility from Combs during his presidential campaign. Trump remarked that he was “very friendly” with the rapper initially but noted a decline in their relationship when Combs became critical during his run for office.

“When asked if he’s more likely to say no, Trump responded, ‘I would say so.’” The president had previously indicated he would consider pardoning Combs during his trial, pointing out that he evaluates cases based on their facts rather than personal feelings.

Despite the President’s comments, Combs remains optimistic about a potential pardon. His lawyer said he is “very hopeful” and continues to hold out hope for clemency.

Combs has been incarcerated since his arrest in September, facing federal charges related to coercing partners into drug-fueled sexual acts while he recorded the encounters. Recently, a judge denied his latest bail request, and he is scheduled for sentencing in October, with a maximum sentence of 20 years.
