Harlem Domestic Violence Incident Results in Death and Arrest

A personal trainer was found dead last week in his Harlem apartment following a violent confrontation with his husband, a fitness model. Prior to the incident, the trainer made a distressing phone call to his father, warning that his husband was “coming after him” and preventing him from leaving their residence.

The suspect, Donald Zieben-Hood, 40, was arrested on charges including burglary and violating a court order of protection, which had prohibited him from contacting his husband, Jacob Zieben-Hood, 34. Jacob, who was studying to become a doctor, was discovered deceased on the toilet, suffering from multiple stab wounds that included a severed artery, leading to fatal blood loss.

Police reports indicate that Jacob called his father that night, reporting that Donald was blocking his exit and was heard in the background shouting and using derogatory language. During the investigation, officers found Jacob overwhelmed by blood, with injuries to his head and back of his leg from the stabbing.

Donald admitted to authorities that he had engaged in a knife fight with his husband the previous evening. He claimed he woke up around 4 a.m. to find Jacob dead after falling asleep and reportedly sustained several self-inflicted cuts requiring stitches. Witnesses and neighbors described ongoing loud arguments between the couple, suggesting a pattern of escalating violence.

Prosecutors state that Donald had been exhibiting violent behavior for months and had previously ignored multiple court orders meant to keep him apart from Jacob. Donald confessed to violating a protection order issued in November. The case is currently under investigation as a homicide, and Donald’s bail has been denied.

The couple, both social media influencers and models, had a history of domestic conflict, with neighbors noting their disturbances and predicting a tragic outcome. The medical examiner is assessing whether Jacob’s wounds resulted from an accident, self-harm, or criminal activity.
