Urgent Appeal: Save a Young Israeli Held Hostage

I have not watched the distressing video of my brother Evyatar, but I cannot avoid knowing what it contains. The footage depicts him, a 24-year-old, emaciated and exhausted, digging a grave inside a Hamas tunnel. He whispers about days without food or water, expressing fear that he will die there.

This haunting image is etched in my mind, though I refuse to see it firsthand. Watching it would break me, and if I break, I cannot speak or fight for him. So I continue to hold onto hope, despite the overwhelming despair.

Evyatar was kidnapped at the Nova music festival on October 7, a celebration turned tragedy. Since then, our family has been living a nightmare. The video Hamas released, meant to be propaganda, shows a skeletal figure—my brother—starving, with hollow eyes and a barely audible voice. He marks the days without nourishment, carving a makeshift grave in the wall.

This isn’t just psychological torment; it’s a brutal act of starvation—an intentional cruelty meant to break him and, by extension, us. Hamas exploits his suffering for political leverage, turning his pain into a weapon.

He is the kind, lively young man who should be out experiencing life, pursuing dreams, and falling in love. Instead, he’s hiding in darkness, withering away from starvation and neglect. I don’t know how else to make the world care, but I must try.

Evyatar and the other 49 hostages are victims of calculated cruelty. Humanitarian aid reaching Gaza must include proof that they are receiving food, water, and medical care. Any organization delivering supplies must demand transparency. If Hamas refuses, the international community must act.

One Bold Deal for Freedom

The only barrier to releasing the hostages is Hamas—the same entity that starves its own people and captives. Global pressure must be directed at them. Silence equates to complicity.

To leaders like President Trump: We thank you for speaking out. Now, we ask for your help once more. A comprehensive, bold agreement—one that secures the release of all 50 hostages—is the only path to ending this suffering and saving Evyatar’s life.
