Bethenny Frankel expressed strong opinions about dating men in their 50s, claiming they often seek only casual conversations or “adult pen pals” instead of genuine connections.

In a recent social media video, the former “Real Housewives of New York” star shared her insights, noting that this age group tends to be preoccupied with their careers, sports cars, finances, ex-spouses, and children. She observed that many men in this demographic are primarily interested in casual encounters rather than meaningful relationships.

Frankel explained that men in their 50s have often lost the ability to connect emotionally, having depended on women to handle much of the household and emotional labor in previous years. She mentioned having several experiences where men reach out as if they’re deeply in love, only to lose interest when she responds normally, revealing their true intent of seeking “pen pals” for potential intimacy.

She concluded that the “breadcrumb communication style”—where men give little hints or partial responses—doesn’t work for her anymore. She emphasized that many men will surface temporarily, but don’t aim for real connection. Frankel shown in a text message recounting how she told a man, “this breadcrumb communication style doesn’t work for me. If you need something, ask; otherwise, peace out.”

Her followers responded positively, agreeing with her assessment and encouraging her to find younger men or those over 80, who they say treat women well. Frankel, most recently linked to Tom Villante, has been open about her dating experiences and recent single status.

Frankel has previously been married twice and shares a daughter, Bryn. She recently confirmed she is single and enjoying her independence, remarking she no longer feels the need for someone to complete her, joking that she’s “already assembled.”
