Rep. Elise Stefanik Announces Gubernatorial Run & Blasts Hochul as ‘Worst Governor in America’!
New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik Fires Back at Governor Kathy Hochul
Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump, has sharply criticized Governor Kathy Hochul, calling her the “worst governor in America.” The attack came after Hochul accused Stefanik of voting to threaten local hospitals in her district, claiming these actions endanger residents’ health and jobs, all to support Trump policies.
Hochul defended her stance, asserting she is fighting to protect New Yorkers’ health care and condemned Medicaid cuts she attributes to Stefanik’s voting record. In response, Stefanik took to social media, firing back with a defiant message: “Hi @KathyHochul! Welcome to the fight,” and referenced Hochul’s previous testimony about sanctuary state policies.
Additionally, Stefanik criticized Hochul for funding Medicaid benefits for illegal immigrants, claiming it jeopardizes the most vulnerable populations in New York. She also highlighted her efforts to improve rural hospital services, claiming to be recognized nationally for her work.
Stefanik further mocked Hochul’s political situation, noting her declining support in rural areas and suggesting Hochul is distracted by political battles rather than effective governance. She also challenged Hochul on her stance regarding the city’s mayoral race, hinting at upcoming political announcements.
The dispute follows Stefanik’s pressure on Hochul to clarify her position on Democratic NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani, who has made controversial statements about Israel and Palestine. Hochul has expressed willingness to meet with Mamdani but has not issued a formal endorsement.
Earlier this month, Stefanik hinted she might run for governor herself, establishing a new political action committee, “Save New York,” signaling her intent to strengthen her influence within New York GOP circles.
