4 Shots, 2 Fatalities, Daylight Violence in the Bronx: Police

Multiple shootings in the Bronx result in two fatalities and several injuries

During a seven-hour daytime spree, four men were shot in the Bronx, with two losing their lives, according to police reports.

The first incident occurred around 8:10 a.m. outside an apartment on Anthony Avenue near Mount Hope Place, where a 32-year-old man was shot in the back. He was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital but died from his injuries.

Surveillance footage shows a suspect pacing in the building lobby with his hood up before disappearing. The suspect is described as about 50 years old, with a dark complexion and medium build, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, and blue sneakers.

Later that day, around 1:10 p.m., a 34-year-old man was shot in the chest outside a public housing complex on Croes Avenue near Seward Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center. Two suspects fled on foot, with one seen wearing a black or gray hoodie, black pants, and a backpack with a shark mouth graphic.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., a 26-year-old man was shot in the leg near East 182nd Street in Belmont and was hospitalized in stable condition. Authorities describe the suspect as wearing a green hoodie and gray sweatpants, who fled the scene.

The motives behind these shootings remain under investigation. Recent police statistics indicate a decrease in violence in the borough, with 67 murders reported so far this year—about 15% fewer than the same period in 2024—and a decline in shootings from last year.

The weekend prior was also marked by violence, including a shooting at Haffen Park that left a 17-year-old girl critically injured, a 32-year-old man dead, and three others wounded. Several suspects face murder charges related to that incident.
