Emma Heming Shares Update on Bruce Willis’s Dementia Battle in Second Home

Emma Heming Decides to Move Bruce Willis to a Separate Home During His Dementia Battle

Emma Heming, the wife of Bruce Willis, revealed she made the difficult choice to relocate the actor to a separate residence as he battles dementia. She explained that Bruce would prefer this arrangement for their children, Mabel, 13, and Evelyn, 11, ensuring they live in a home suited to their needs rather than his.

Emma shared that the children still see Bruce regularly, often visiting him for breakfast and dinner at his new home, which is located nearby. Willis, 70, lives with a dedicated full-time care team, allowing him to stay active and healthy physically despite his ongoing cognitive decline.

Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a progressive neurological disorder impacting speech, behavior, and mobility. Emma emphasized that while his mental faculties are deteriorating, his physical health remains relatively good, noting, “Bruce is still very mobile and in overall great health; it’s just his brain that’s failing him.”

In promoting her upcoming memoir, “The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path,” Emma discussed Willis’ health challenges, which became public in 2022 when he retired from acting due to an aphasia diagnosis. According to the Mayo Clinic, aphasia affects speech and the comprehension of language.

Willis was later diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which involves behavioral and language issues. Emma highlighted that his loved ones now communicate in a different way due to his declining language skills.

Although his cognitive abilities decline, Emma reassured that Willis remains physically active and healthy overall. She described his condition as a brain health issue rather than overall physical health.
