Shocking Double Tragedy: Father and Son Die During Ill-Fated Bank Robbery in Connecticut!
A father and son lost their lives after robbing a bank in Connecticut, followed by police engagement that lasted six hours, resulting in both being shot and killed, authorities report.
Shaun Fallon, 56, and his 27-year-old son Zachary, attempted to threaten a teller at Chelsea Groton Bank in Groton around 10:30 a.m. last Thursday, fleeing with an undisclosed sum of cash. They were wearing masks during the robbery, according to police.
Law enforcement located the suspects’ car at a nearby hotel around six hours later, initiating a standoff. The suspects declared they were armed with firearms and explosives and refused to surrender. During the standoff, two gunshots were heard from their hotel room.
Drones later confirmed that both suspects were injured by gunshot wounds and were incapacitated. The police confirmed that the situation was volatile and involved firearms and explosives, although no explosives were ultimately found after a bomb squad cleared the room.
Both men, from Rhode Island, were taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Zachary Fallon succumbed to his injuries hours later; Shaun remained hospitalized for several days before dying from his wounds on Monday. The medical examiner will determine the official causes of death.
Authorities described the incident as extremely dangerous, praising law enforcement for their professionalism. The investigation remains open as officials continue to gather details.
