Michail Antonio Baffles Fans with Meme-Style Revelation During FA Cup Draw
Michail Antonio’s Viral Meme Reference During FA Cup Draw Stirs Reactions
Former West Ham striker Michail Antonio caused amusement among viewers when he referenced a trending internet meme during a live FA Cup first round draw. Appearing alongside Joel Ward, the former Crystal Palace captain, Antonio was responsible for selecting the away teams.
As the draw progressed, Ward announced number 67—the record for Slough Town in the National League South. Antonio responded by scrutinizing his own ball, then animatedly chanting “six-seven,” while waving his arms rhythmically. This gesture mimicked the viral “6-7” meme originating from the song Doot Doot by rapper Skrilla, popularized by basketball player LaMelo Ball, who is 6’7″ tall.
The moment drew laughter from Ward and the audience at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium, with clips quickly circulating on social media. The actual team Antonio drew was either Altrincham or Harborough Town.
This playful incident comes weeks after Antonio resumed light training following a severe car accident that threatened his football career. The Jamaica international suffered a broken leg when his Ferrari crashed in Epping Forest last December and was trapped in the wreckage for over 45 minutes before rescue.
Having returned to training in June and participated in Jamaica’s Gold Cup qualifiers, Antonio has been working with Brentford to regain his fitness. Despite leaving West Ham in August after unsuccessful contract negotiations, he remains optimistic about signing with a new Premier League team.
In recent interviews, Antonio emphasized his motivation to play for Jamaica in the 2026 World Cup. He reflected on his recovery, expressing his desire to continue his career to avoid ending prematurely due to the accident. “I want to prove I can come back and perform like I used to,” he said, highlighting his determination to continue playing, whether in England or abroad.
He plans to continue training with Brentford while exploring his options, with the ultimate goal of representing Jamaica and fulfilling his World Cup ambitions.
