Denmark Boss Mocks Manchester United After Hojlund’s Brace
Denmark Coach Criticizes Manchester United After Hojlund’s Two Goals
Denmark’s manager expressed dissatisfaction with Manchester United for not fully utilizing Rasmus Hojlund’s abilities, despite his impressive start to the season. Hojlund scored twice in Denmark’s 6-0 victory over Belarus in a World Cup qualifier, bringing his total goals for club and country to seven this season.
The 22-year-old has revitalized his career on loan at Napoli, thriving in an environment that so far seems to have unlocked his potential, similar to other Manchester United players like Marcus Rashford and Antony who have found success after tough spells.
Last season, Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals, but he already has that many in Serie A this season, benefiting from the support of Kevin De Bruyne. Denmark’s coach, Brian Riemer, believes Hojlund has the talent to succeed in both top European leagues and sees no issue with his fit in either.
“He has the quality for both leagues,” Riemer said. “He proved it in Italy, and I believe he can adapt to the Premier League as well.”
Hojlund’s stint at Manchester United may be ending soon. Signed in summer 2023 for £72 million, he scored 16 goals in his debut season but saw less impact last year. His loan to Napoli includes a £38m obligation to buy if the club qualifies for the Champions League, which is likely.
Napoli coach Ruben Amorim highlighted that Hojlund was hampered by a lack of service at Manchester United, emphasizing that team dynamics are crucial for his success. Riemer echoed this, stating that Hojlund’s pace, technique, and goal-scoring ability are evident, but improving team play is key to unlocking his full potential.
At Napoli, Hojlund benefits from high-quality service, notably from Kevin De Bruyne, with whom he developed a promising partnership in the Champions League, sparking optimism about his future prospects in Italian football.
