Matildas Star Tameka Yallop and Wife Kirsty Welcome Baby Nova
Matildas Player Tameka Yallop and Wife Kirsty Welcome Their Second Child
Matildas veteran Tameka Yallop and her wife Kirsty, a former New Zealand international footballer, have announced the birth of their second daughter. The couple shared the happy news on social media, revealing their daughter’s name as Nova Jay Yallop, born on September 29, 2025. They expressed excitement, with Kirsty noting that their older daughter Harley is eager to be a big sister.
The announcement received warm support from the football community, including players like Sam Kerr, Clare Wheeler, and Katrina Gorry. Teagan Micah and Michelle Heyman also congratulated the couple publicly, along with team teammate Clare Polkinghorne and rising star Charlotte Grant.
The Yallops previously announced their pregnancy in April, with Kirsty retiring from football in 2018 and giving birth to their first daughter Harley in 2020. The new arrival joins a close-knit football family, with Katrina Gorry welcoming her daughter Harper in 2021 and her son Koby with partner Clara Markstedt in 2024. Sam Kerr also became a mother earlier this year with her fiancée Kristie Mewis welcoming their son.
Yallop emphasized the importance of maximizing the sport’s momentum in Australia, especially with upcoming tournaments such as the Women’s Asian Cup on home soil and the Socceroos’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both Yallop and Socceroos captain Jackson Irvine have urged football administrators to capitalize on the recent successes of the Matildas and Socceroos. Industry research highlights the commercial potential of the Asian Cup, and there is ongoing advocacy for elevating the professional standards of women’s domestic leagues to foster the sport’s growth.
She expressed hope that hosting the Women’s Asian Cup would be an opportunity to transform the women’s game in Australia, embedding full-time professionalism and elite standards across the sport.
