Father of slain 6-year-old threatens son’s killer after release

Child Killer Released Early, Father Threatens Revenge

Ronald Exantus, who murdered 6-year-old Logan Tipton during a home invasion in Kentucky, has been released on parole after serving only seven years of his 20-year sentence. Exantus, a former dialysis nurse, was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity and was convicted solely for assault. His early release has sparked outrage from the child’s family.

In 2015, Exantus broke into the Tipton family’s residence in Versailles and attacked them while they were asleep. He repeatedly stabbed Logan in the head with a kitchen knife. When Logan’s father, Dean Tipton, confronted the intruder, he was also injured and shot across the room. His daughter Dakota witnessed the violence, recalling how her father was stomped on and how she awoke to her brother screaming, as Exantus continued his assault.

Exantus was released on Oct. 1 after serving just 8 years, mainly due to good behavior and educational credits.

Despite a sentence of two decades, Exantus was released in October 2023, with his parole lasting until June 2026. His release has caused deep anger and fear in the Tipton family. Dean Tipton has expressed his intent to protect his remaining children and has openly threatened violence if he ever encounters Exantus again, stating, “if I cross paths with him, I will kill him where he stands.”

Logan’s family is devastated that the man responsible for his death was released early from prison.

Logan’s mother expressed dismay over the leniency of Exantus’s sentence, emphasizing the tragedy of her son being murdered while asleep and questioning the adequacy of his punishment.
