Chelsea Fans Suspect Swap Deal Involving Guiu and Emegha

Supporters of Chelsea have speculated about a possible player exchange, questioning why forward Marc Guiu hasn’t seen playing time after returning from a loan spell at Sunderland. Guiu, who joined Sunderland on August 6 and scored once in three appearances, was recalled by Chelsea on August 31 due to team needs stemming from injuries and transfer activity.

Since his return, Guiu has yet to make a debut for Chelsea, appearing only on the bench in four matches. Fans on social media fueled rumors that Guiu might be part of a January swap deal, potentially moving to Strasbourg, which is also owned by Chelsea’s parent group, BlueCo. They believe this could facilitate an earlier signing of Emanuel Emegha, whom Chelsea have agreed to sign next summer.

FIFA rules prevent players from representing more than two clubs in one season, and since Guiu has already played for Sunderland, he cannot appear for Chelsea again this season if he is to be loaned out again. Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, recently chose Tyrique George over Guiu in a Champions League match against Benfica, further increasing speculation. Fans think Maresca’s decision might be influenced by the club’s plans for Guiu, with some suggesting that the lack of opportunities for Guiu hints at a planned move involving Emegha.

Despite the rumors, Maresca has affirmed that Guiu is working well and will be given chances to play, emphasizing the importance of team balance and consistent performance.
