Tim Allen Forgives Father’s Killer Inspired by Charlie Kirk’s Widow
Tim Allen Forgives the Driver Responsible for His Father’s Death
Actor Tim Allen has publicly expressed his forgiveness toward the drunk driver who caused his father’s fatal car accident in 1964. This heartfelt sentiment was inspired after listening to Erika Kirk’s emotional eulogy at her husband’s funeral. During the service, Erika, widow of Charlie Kirk, addressed her husband’s killer, saying, “That man… that young man… I forgive him.” Allen shared that this moment deeply moved him, and he has now chosen to forgive as well, stating, “I forgive the man who killed my father.”
Allen’s father, Gerald M. Dick, died when he was just 11 years old in a collision with a drunk driver. Similarly, Charlie Kirk, a well-known conservative activist, was murdered earlier this month at Utah Valley University, shot in the neck while speaking on stage. He left behind his wife and two young children, a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son.
At Charlie’s memorial, attended by notable figures including the President and Elon Musk, Erika Kirk again publicly forgave her husband’s killer. Through tears, she declared, “That young man—I forgive him,” emphasizing her choice to respond to hate with compassion, guided by her faith. She explained that Charlie wanted to help young men like the shooter and that her forgiveness was rooted in her Christian beliefs and her love for Charlie.
Erika stated she would not seek the death penalty for the suspect, Tyler Robinson, emphasizing her desire for mercy. “I do not want that man’s blood on my ledger,” she said, reasoning that forgiveness is essential for her spiritual journey and her hope to be with Charlie in heaven.
Continuing Charlie Kirk’s Legacy
Following Charlie’s death, his organization, Turning Point USA, appointed Erika as its new CEO and chair of the board. She is committed to carrying on his mission and advocacy work.
