Jack Osbourne Recalls Learning of Ozzy’s Passing
Jack Osbourne emotionally shared the moment he was informed of his father Ozzy Osbourne’s death. A trusted family employee, who had worked for 30 years, knocked on his door in Los Angeles at 3:45 a.m. to deliver the heartbreaking news. Jack immediately recognized the gravity of the situation, stating, “When I saw it was him, I knew something bad had happened.” He confirmed that Ozzy had passed away that night.
In a recent YouTube video, Jack reflected on spending valuable time with Ozzy during his final days. After Ozzy’s last performance with Black Sabbath in Birmingham on July 5, Jack and his family stayed in England longer than planned, cancelling a vacation to Portugal due to his children battling the stomach flu. Jack expressed gratitude for this additional time, feeling it was a blessing.
He explained that while the loss is deeply painful, he feels peace knowing Ozzy was no longer suffering from declining health related to Parkinson’s disease and other ailments. Ozzy had been battling health issues, and his family knew he was having a tough time, but nobody anticipated his death to come so suddenly.
Ozzy was planning to spend more time in England and with his grandchildren, and his son highlighted how much Ozzy still knew despite his health struggles. Jack described his father as a complex individual—funny, quirky, insightful, and aware of his surroundings—caring deeply about his family’s future.
Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22 from a heart attack, with prior health issues including coronary artery disease. His final concert, performed just two weeks before his passing, revitalized him and allowed him to feel alive again, marking a fitting end to his legendary career.
Jack expressed how grateful he was to have Ozzy as his dad, remembering him as a humorous and affectionate presence who was always aware of his surroundings despite appearances. The family gathered privately to mourn Ozzy in a heartfelt funeral.
