6-Year-Old Injured in Pennsylvania Festival Crash by Drunk Driver
Driver Under Influence Crashes Through Festival, Critically Injures Young Boy
An unstable driver who reportedly was under the influence caused chaos during a festival in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, resulting in serious injuries to a 6-year-old boy. The incident occurred when the driver, identified as 37-year-old Elizabeth Ann Bohrer, sped past barricades in a red minivan, navigating through festival stalls as the event was concluding over Labor Day weekend.
Bohrer drove her vehicle across five blocks of stalls, hitting three individuals along the way, including a woman in a wheelchair, a man attempting to stop her, and the young boy. The boy suffered multiple severe injuries, including a fractured pelvis, broken jaw, lacerated spleen, and two broken ribs. He remains in critical condition. The other two victims are in stable condition.
At the scene, Bohrer was reportedly aggressive toward responding officers and appeared intoxicated. Authorities noted her belligerent behavior, and she was transported to the hospital for evaluation. Her minivan was badly damaged, with a dented hood, shattered headlight, and deployed airbags. The vehicle, which displayed a bumper sticker reading “hella’ kids up in here,” was nearly totaled.
Witnesses described the frightening experience of the vehicle rushing through without warning, with one vendor noting that the driver was going very fast but not yelling. Bohrer was uncooperative with police at the scene but was taken into custody shortly afterward. She is currently held on a $350,000 bond and faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault by vehicle, reckless endangerment, and driving under the influence.
Regarding the incident, the mayor emphasized that reckless behavior endangering lives will not be tolerated and assured that law enforcement and festival organizers will work together to restore safety and ensure future events are protected from such threats.
