Texas Man Arrested for Threatening President Trump’s Staffer Over Voicemail

A man from Austin, Texas, was detained last week after he allegedly made violent threats against a staff member of President Trump through threatening voicemail messages. The caller, identified as Thomas Austria Crouse, reportedly said he would find the staffer and decapitate them, then kill their family.

The threats were made during a series of voicemails left on August 25. Authorities quickly traced the calls and identified Crouse as the suspect. During an interview with federal agents the following day, he agreed to cease leaving threatening messages. However, hours later, he allegedly left five additional voicemails urging the staffer to take their own life.

Crouse was arrested on August 27, ending the disturbing episode. The case is currently being investigated by the FBI, U.S. Secret Service, and Capitol Police. The charges against him include transmitting interstate threats, which could result in a prison sentence of up to five years if convicted.

The caller also threatened to kill the staffer’s entire family.

The article notes that threats against members of Trump’s staff have been persistent, particularly after his election victory. Just weeks after the 2020 election, several cabinet nominees and administration officials received bomb threats at their homes.

In May, former FBI Director James Comey was investigated by the Secret Service after posting a cryptic message on social media that was perceived as a violent threat against Trump. Additionally, earlier this August, a man in Pennsylvania was arrested for threatening to kill the president and criticizing the country’s political direction.
