Wendy Williams’ Lawyer: She Wants to Expose ‘Abusive’ Guardianship Industry
Wendy Williams Focuses on Advocacy and Speaking Tour Plans
Rather than returning to her television career, Wendy Williams is now dedicated to advocating for individuals under guardianships and considering embarking on a speaking tour to share her experiences.
In a recent interview, her attorney, Joe Tacopina, revealed that Williams is eager to highlight what she perceives as systemic abuse within guardianship practices. She has expressed her desire to use her platform to expose injustices and help educate families on protecting themselves against guardianship issues.
Williams prefers to remain out of television and instead hopes to focus on panels or seminars that educate families on red flags and methods to escape abusive guardianship situations. Her friend and lawyer have stated that she is passionate about raising awareness on this critical issue.
Currently, Williams is battling to end her own guardianship, following reports that she may be suffering from frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. She has denied having mental health issues, and her legal team considers the reports to be false, possibly leaked by her guardianship guardians.
Her attorney insists that Williams’ guardianship was unjust and involves suspicious circumstances, asserting that the involvement of guardianship attorneys and the judge’s ruling hang in the balance. The next step involves scheduling a neutral medical exam to verify her condition before any legal decisions are made.
Confident About Her Future
Williams remains optimistic about her legal fight, confident she will eventually regain her independence. Before a recent dinner outing, she told friends, “I will get out of guardianship,” showing her resolve to overcome the challenges she faces.
