Hojlund’s Big Pay Rise Awaiting Juventus Move as Man United Unlikely to Reconsider
Rasmus Hojlund Likely to Receive Significant Pay Increase if He Transfers to Napoli
Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly set to earn a substantial boost in his salary should he agree to move from Manchester United to Napoli before the transfer deadline. The Danish forward has been left out of Manchester United’s squad for their first two Premier League games, signaling a possible departure.
According to reports, Napoli, the Serie A champions, have intensified their efforts to sign Hojlund following Romelu Lukaku’s injury. Italian sources claim Napoli are willing to offer Hojlund a higher salary — approximately £3.9 million annually — to persuade him to join on an initial loan basis with an option to purchase next summer.
Hojlund, earning around £2.4 million per year at Manchester United after signing a five-year contract from Atalanta in 2023, is believed to prefer a loan with an obligation to buy, aiming to settle his long-term future.
The proposed deal involves Napoli paying an initial €5 million (£4.3 million) loan fee, with an option to buy him outright for €40 million (£34.5 million). This move would represent a significant loss for Manchester United, who paid £72 million for Hojlund last year.
Reports suggest that Hojlund is inclined toward a loan deal with a mandatory purchase clause, as he seeks clarity on his future playing opportunities. Editorial sources indicate Napoli is eager to secure his signature to bolster their attack.
If the transfer goes through, Napoli hopes Hojlund can replicate the success of Scott McTominay, who was named Serie A’s most valuable player last season and played a pivotal role in Napoli’s title victory. Recently, McTominay reportedly contacted Hojlund to persuade him to join Napoli and work with manager Antonio Conte.
Hojlund’s potential move to Napoli underscores his desire for regular game time and a definitive role, as Manchester United’s recent signing, Benjamin Sesko, has limited his prospects this season.
