Antony Ready for Transfer Update as Real Betis Shows Interest in Man United Outcast
Man United Outcast Antony Expected to Seek Transfer Update Amid Betis Interest
Manchester United winger Antony is anticipated to receive an update on a potential move to Real Betis within the next 24 hours. Betis is preparing to submit a new proposal after their initial loan bid earlier this summer was rejected.
The Brazilian forward has become surplus to requirements at Old Trafford this season, as manager Ruben Amorim aims to reshape the squad for his first full campaign in charge. Antony, who did not start a Premier League match last season and was restricted to substitute appearances since November, was loaned to La Liga side Betis in January. He quickly established himself as a key player, earning a Player of the Month nomination and scoring five league goals with two assists in 15 starts.
Antony played a significant role in Betis reaching their first-ever European final, scoring in their 4-3 victory over Fiorentina. The club later faced Chelsea in the Conference League final but suffered a 4-1 defeat. Betis president Angel Haro revealed plans earlier this year to retain Antony beyond the summer transfer window.
The club’s coach, Manuel Pellegrini, has expressed his fondness for Antony but stated that the decision ultimately lies with Manchester United. On Thursday, Pellegrini commented, “We all know Antony was very good here, and he wants to return. But we need Manchester United to make a decision.”
Other clubs, including Fenerbahce, have also shown interest in signing Antony, though the player prefers a return to Betis.
