Serena Williams Shows Off Body Transformation in Swimsuit
Serena Williams recently displayed her dramatic body transformation in a bright yellow one-piece swimsuit, after revealing she used a weight-loss medication to shed over 30 pounds. She shared stunning photos on Instagram, captioning the carousel, “melanin mellow-yellow ⚠️,” with fans quickly praising her appearance, commenting things like, “You look amazing🔥” and “What a Body 🔥❤️.”
The tennis legend disclosed that she began struggling with her weight following the birth of her second daughter, Adira River, in August 2023. Despite losing a lot of pregnancy weight within two weeks, she found herself unable to lose additional pounds, no matter how much she trained and ate healthily. Serena explained, “I never was able to get to the weight I needed to be no matter what I did, no matter how much I trained.”
After extensive research, Serena decided to try GLP-1 medications despite her initial skepticism and the controversy surrounding weight-loss drugs. She started weekly injections of Ro about six months after stopping breastfeeding her daughter in early 2024. Since then, she has successfully lost over 31 pounds, feeling healthier, more energetic, and with less joint pain. She states, “I feel really good and healthy. I feel light physically and light mentally.”
Williams also shared that the medication has improved her overall well-being; she feels more active, with increased energy and less joint discomfort. She emphasized that her goal is to achieve a healthier lifestyle rather than simply losing weight, noting, “I’ve never felt that pressure to maintain a certain appearance.”
In addition to her weight loss journey, Serena reflected on her experiences with body image, especially post-pregnancy, noting she faced similar challenges after giving birth to her second child. She mentioned that she has started conversations with her daughters about body confidence and positivity, teaching them to feel comfortable at any size, especially given the scrutiny she faced growing up publicly. Serena explained, “It’s really important to teach them to be confident at any size, just like I try to be.”
