Florida Man Arrested After Allegedly Lying on a Child in Her Bedroom

A father in Florida discovered his 7-year-old daughter in a disturbing situation involving a registered sex offender and his intoxication. The man was found lying on the girl’s bed with his jeans around his ankles, touching her leg and prodding her ear while she was asleep.

Daniel D’Angelo, 53, was taken into custody after the young girl awoke and saw him in her room. The father, unaware of D’Angelo’s sex offender status, entered the room around 11 p.m. and immediately engaged in a physical confrontation to remove the intruder. During the incident, D’Angelo was seen shirtless and pulling up his pants as he left the scene.

The father documented the incident by taking photos of D’Angelo, including one of him pulling up his pants and another of him leaving shirtless. Police reported that D’Angelo, an alcoholic, had spent the entire day drinking beer. Court records reveal he failed to notify authorities of his new address after moving into the home earlier that month, a legal requirement for sex offenders.

D’Angelo claimed the accusations were part of a setup after investigators obtained explicit photos from his phone, which included his shirt in the girl’s bed. Prior to the incident, D’Angelo’s former landlord and roommate expressed concerns, describing him as often intoxicated and physically unsteady. The landlord recounted that D’Angelo would often be so drunk that he was unaware of his actions.

The accused faces charges of second-degree lewd and lascivious conduct and failure to register as a sex offender. He remains detained at the Charlotte County Jail.
