Real Madrid Eye £70m Crystal Palace Star After Eze Arsenal Deal

Real Madrid Shows Interest in £70m Crystal Palace Midfielder Following Eberechi Eze’s Move to Arsenal

Real Madrid is reportedly eyeing a move for a star player from Crystal Palace, with a potential transfer fee of up to £70 million. According to Spanish outlet AS, the Madrid club is interested in acquiring Adam Wharton, with Palace unlikely to sell below their £70 million asking price.

The Spanish giants may need to offload a player to fund the deal, having already spent around £154 million this summer on new signings, including Dean Huijsen, Alvaro Carrenas, and Franco Mastantuono. A possible candidate for sale is Rodrygo, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with both Manchester City and Liverpool showing interest. The Brazilian winger has faced limited playing time under manager Xabi Alonso and was previously linked with Arsenal.

Arsenal had previously shown interest in Eberechi Eze, but after a knee injury to Kai Havertz, their focus shifted. The Gunners had planned to strengthen their squad earlier but prioritized player sales after signing Viktor Gyokeres for £63 million. Following Havertz’s injury in the win against Manchester United, Arsenal moved swiftly to secure Eze, who was their preferred target.

Last month, Arsenal’s management, including Mikel Arteta, met with Eze, who was inclined toward a move. His £60 million-plus bonuses release clause expired last week, making a deal more feasible. Tottenham also attempted to sign Eze, offering around £55 million plus add-ons, but Arsenal secured the player after agreeing terms with Palace.

Palace has requested Eze remain available for their upcoming Conference League match against Fredrikstad but ultimately agreed to his transfer, and Eze is expected to join Arsenal soon.
