Rabiot’s Mother Blames Greenwood in Marseille Dressing Room Fight

Adrien Rabiot’s Mother Criticizes Marseille After Player’s Exile Following Clubroom Fight

Veronique Rabiot, mother and agent of footballer Adrien Rabiot, has spoken out against Marseille, accusing the club of betrayal after they removed her son from the first team following a violent altercation with teammate Jonathan Rowe.

The incident occurred last weekend after Marseille’s 1-0 defeat to Rennes in the opening match of the Ligue 1 season. Reports describe the confrontation as escalating into a “very violent” clash, prompting security to intervene in the dressing room. Both Rabiot and Rowe were subsequently suspended from the first team, with the club advising them to find new clubs.

Rabiot’s mother expressed her disappointment, stating, “It was shocking to hear about his suspension. He has done so much for Marseille, and this is how they repay him.” She also criticized coach Roberto De Zerbi and club officials for what she perceives as a betrayal, emphasizing her son’s contributions and previous struggles, including a period at PSG where she felt he was ‘held hostage.’

Veronique compared Rabiot’s situation to that of Mason Greenwood, who was given a second chance at Marseille after a serious legal case, asking whether her son should not be afforded the same opportunity: “If Greenwood is offered a second chance, why not Adrien?”

While Rowe has secured a transfer to Bologna, Rabiot remains in search of a new club. He is linked with Serie A teams such as Juventus and Inter Milan, as well as Ligue 1 clubs monitoring his situation.

At Marseille last season, Rabiot made 32 appearances, netting 10 goals and providing six assists. The club’s leadership described the altercation as unprecedented in football, stating that their decision aimed to protect the team and season.

Marseille’s next fixture is against debutants Paris FC, set for Saturday afternoon.
