Prince Philip’s Sharp Comment on Harry and Meghan’s Wedding

Prince Philip’s Reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Wedding

According to a royal biographer, Prince Philip felt a significant sense of relief once the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle concluded. In an upcoming memoir, former royal butler Grant Harrold recounts that after the formalities ended and the royal family members filed out of the chapel, Prince Philip turned to Queen Elizabeth and remarked, “Thank f–k that’s over.”

The memoir, titled “The Royal Butler,” is set for release in September. Harrold’s account suggests Prince Philip was visibly exhausted and relieved after the ceremony, which was held at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, in 2018. Attending were both Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, who passed away in 2021. The wedding was a grand event, famously involving the late Queen and her consort.

The biographer also mentions that during the period when Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back from royal duties in 2020, Prince Philip reportedly believed it was Harry’s personal decision and thought that “it’s his life,” with a remark that “I’ll soon be out of it and not before time.”

Despite the tensions surrounding Harry’s decision to leave royal duties and move to California with Meghan Markle, Philip was said to have taken a hands-off approach, understanding that people must forge their own paths. He was reportedly sympathetic to Harry and saw him as a “good man,” while also recognizing that Philip’s own retirement meant he didn’t see much of Meghan during her early years in the royal family.

Following Prince Philip’s death, Harry and Meghan expressed their mourning publicly, stating, “Thank you for your service … You will be greatly missed.”

Overall, Philip’s attitude toward the family’s major life events appeared to be one of understanding and detachment, reflecting his belief that individuals must lead their own lives, even amid complex family dynamics.
