Weston Cage Reveals He’s Often Misjudged Amid Family Controversy
Weston Coppola Cage Addresses Misconceptions Amidst Assault Allegations
Weston Coppola Cage, son of Nicolas Cage, spoke publicly about the misconceptions surrounding him following allegations of attacking his mother, Christina Fulton, last year.
In an interview at the OPTIX Film Series in Las Vegas, Weston shared that he’s been resilient through the controversy, emphasizing the importance of forgiveness. “It’s strengthened me. I can only give radical forgiveness,” he said. He acknowledged that he’s often misunderstood, attributing it to the intimidating nature of his calling.
He revealed plans for a documentary titled “Beast of God”, which he says will explore his childhood. Weston believes the project will be impactful, even saying, “It’ll keep Xanax in business, for sure, for the people that watch it.”
Reflecting on personal growth, Weston shared that he has been removing people from his life who “needed to be eliminated,” considering this process more beneficial than tackling bad habits. “It allows the universe to pour everything you’re meant for into it,” he added.
Weston, 34, faces ongoing challenges stemming from a history of mental health issues. He was arrested in July 2024 after allegedly assaulting his mother, Fulton, at his residence. Fulton described the incident, claiming Weston “almost” killed her, stating he “snapped” and dragged her by the hair while trying to suffocate her. A friend intervened, preventing further harm.
Weston pleaded not guilty and received a two-year mental health diversion after a judge recognized he was suffering from “a breakdown.” His legal team appreciated the court’s consideration of his efforts toward rehabilitation. The incident occurred during a tumultuous period in his life.
Weston’s personal narrative continues to evolve as he balances his artistic pursuits with his mental health journey, sharing his story to shed light on his path of growth and understanding.
