Pregnant Wife of Former Knicks Star Survives Shark Bite – First Statement

Italian Sports Journalist Attacked by Shark in Puerto Rico Shares Her Experience

Eleonora Boi, an Italian sports journalist and wife of former NBA player Danilo Gallinari, spoke publicly about her recent shark attack in Puerto Rico. Boi was bitten on the thigh while in waist-deep water with her two children. Initially believing she had been stung by a jellyfish, she soon realized she had been attacked by a shark.

Panicking, she called for help and was assisted by a woman on the beach, whose identity remains unknown. Boi praised the woman’s quick response, saying, “She was an angel. Danilo was with me, and she helped so much. I want to thank her because she helped a lot.”

Rescue efforts included medical tests to ensure her baby, who is due in November, was unharmed. Once confirmed, surgeons performed an operation on Boi. She continues to visit doctors weekly and is expected to recover fully, with no impact on her pregnancy.

Boi, who is currently pregnant, expects to deliver her child in November. Despite the positive prognosis, she admitted the traumatic nature of the incident.

Gallinari, currently playing for Vaqueros de Bayamón in Puerto Rico’s Baloncesto Superior Nacional league, has had a long NBA career. Drafted sixth overall by the New York Knicks in 2008, Gallinari’s debut was met with boos from fans. Over the years, he played for several teams, including a stint with the Nuggets, after initially making a notable impact in New York.
