Bojangles Expands to East Coast with New Brooklyn Location

Bojangles Returns to New York City with Expansion on the East Coast

The well-known southern fast-food chain Bojangles is set to make a major comeback to New York City after more than 40 years, with a new location opening in Brooklyn this winter. Over the next decade, the company plans to establish 85 outlets across New York and New Jersey, supporting its expansion with a partnership involving local restaurant operator Habib Hashimi.

Ground has already been broken on the Brooklyn site, marking Bojangles’ return to NYC after a brief stint in the 1980s. The company’s CEO, Jose Armario, expressed excitement about re-entering the metropolitan area, noting the demand for its authentic Southern flavors and hospitality.

Hashimi praised the brand’s menu, which features its signature fried chicken, biscuits, and breakfast offerings, emphasizing his pride in leading its growth and his confidence that residents will embrace the brand’s distinctive taste and service.

Originally founded in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1977, Bojangles is celebrated for its all-day breakfast, fried chicken, and Southern-style menu, with over 800 locations primarily across the Carolinas and Mid-Atlantic states. Recently, it announced plans to expand into Los Angeles County with 30 new locations over six years, marking its first entry into the West Coast.

As other southern chains like Raising Cane’s have also entered NYC — with their first flagship opening in Times Square in 2023 and expanding to nearby areas — Bojangles’ arrival reflects a growing interest in Southern comfort food in the city. This expansion aims to bring the chain’s signature dishes and friendly service to a new generation of New Yorkers.
