Retired 94-Year-Old Doctor Assaulted in NYC Apple Store
94-Year-Old Man Attacked in Upper East Side Apple Store
A 94-year-old retired doctor was unexpectedly assaulted at an Apple store on Madison Avenue this week, raising concerns about safety in public spaces.
The victim, Moshe, had just purchased a new Apple Watch with his 78-year-old companion, Evelia, when an unidentified man, apparently disturbed and already causing trouble with others, suddenly struck him in the store’s vestibule around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Moshe, he and Evelia were preparing to leave when violence erupted. “There was some ruckus, and I told Evelia to wait until everything calmed down,” he explained. Moments later, the attacker rushed in and punched him in the face before fleeing north on Madison Avenue.
Moshe, who once worked as a martial arts instructor, said he was caught off guard by the attack. “He surprised me,” he admitted. His medical background led him to decline immediate hospital treatment since he was uninjured beyond discomfort, opting instead to go to the police station with officers.
He described his attacker as a slender man with a dark complexion, over six feet tall, wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans, and tan shoes. Eyewitnesses reported the suspect was upset after his credit card was declined during a purchase and was later seen harassing a woman nearby.
Meanwhile, Evelia expressed her shock over the incident. “He could have done this to someone else,” she said. “To target someone as vulnerable as a 94-year-old is horrifying.”
The suspect remains at large, and authorities are urging the public to help identify him. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS or submit tips online.
