Man United Fan Launches Fundraising Campaign to Help Sign Carlos Baleba

A supporter of Manchester United has created a GoFundMe page aimed at raising funds to facilitate a transfer for midfielder Carlos Baleba from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Manchester United has reportedly reached out to Brighton to discuss the possibility of acquiring Baleba during the current transfer window, though securing a deal remains challenging. The 21-year-old had a notable season, making 34 appearances in the Premier League and scoring three goals for Brighton under manager Fabian Hurzeler.

The club, nearing the completion of its third major signing of the summer with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, is among many clubs interested in the Cameroon international. Intermediaries have confirmed that Manchester United has expressed interest, with the player under contract at Brighton for three more years, including an option for an additional year.

Despite financial constraints, as evidenced by recent signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined fee of around £133.5 million, a dedicated fan has taken matters into their own hands. Ian M., based in England, set up a fundraiser titled “Baleba to Man United fund,” with an initial goal of £120 million and a picture of Baleba in Brighton colors. The campaign emphasizes the urgency of signing Baleba, though at present, no donations have been made.

The possibility of a transfer this summer appears unlikely, given Brighton’s reluctance to sell and Manchester United’s substantial transfer expenditure. The club’s total spending on new players this window could approach nearly £200 million, making it the third highest in the Premier League after Liverpool and Chelsea. Nonetheless, United remains eager to strengthen its midfield options, currently comprising Casemiro, Manuel Ugarte, Toby Collyer, Bruno Fernandes, and Kobbie Mainoo.

While the window’s deadline looms, ongoing efforts reflect United’s persistent interest in bolstering their squad despite the financial hurdles.
