Chelsea’s £30,000 Equipment Vanishes from Training Ground Amid Police Investigation
Chelsea’s High-Tech Equipment Vanishes from Training Ground
Chelsea is baffled after approximately £30,000 worth of advanced camera equipment used for training disappeared from their Cobham training facility. The club contacted Surrey Police to investigate the incident, which has been deemed suspicious despite whether the gear was simply misplaced.
The equipment plays a crucial role in their tactical analysis, capturing training sessions and matches to help players understand strategies and improve physical preparation. Officials have yet to comment on the situation publicly, and further details are expected once staff members return from holiday.
Several Chelsea players have previously experienced home invasions. Raheem Sterling’s residence was burgled during the 2022 World Cup, with thieves stealing £300,000 worth of designer watches. Sterling briefly returned from Qatar to support his family before rejoining his team.
Similarly, Reece James’ home was broken into in December 2021 while he was playing in the Champions League, resulting in the loss of medals including his Champions League winner’s medal and Euro 2020 medal. Notably, a gang led by Emiliano Krosi used a ladder to access Sterling’s backyard and stole ten Rolex watches. Krosi received a 13-year jail sentence in 2024 for this and other burglaries across the region.
Amidst these security issues, some analysts question Chelsea’s recent transfer strategy. Former player Jamie Carragher doubted that the recent signings, despite costing around £250 million, will significantly close the gap to the top of the Premier League. He criticized the lack of evident improvement in the squad, suggesting that new players haven’t elevated the team’s overall quality ahead of their upcoming season opener against Crystal Palace.
