Isak Returns to Newcastle Amid Transfer Saga After Rejected Liverpool Offer

Alexander Isak Returns to Newcastle After Attempting to Transfer to Liverpool

Alexander Isak has rejoined training at Newcastle United following his unexplained absence last week, during which he traveled to Spain without informing the club, aiming to facilitate a transfer to Liverpool.

The 25-year-old striker previously visited his former club, Real Sociedad, to use their training facilities. His absence was not due to injury, despite missing Newcastle’s tour of the Far East, but was kept private, causing friction within the team.

According to reports, Newcastle is holding out for a bid approaching £150 million from Liverpool, who made an initial offer of £110 million that was rejected. The club is keen to secure a replacement before allowing Isak to leave, with negotiations ongoing for players like Benjamin Sesko and Yoane Wissa.

Manager Eddie Howe has publicly expressed disappointment regarding Isak’s conduct, emphasizing that players must earn the right to train with the squad and act responsibly. Howe stated:

“You have to earn the right to train with us. We are Newcastle United. Players have a responsibility to be part of the team and behave appropriately. No player can act poorly and expect to train normally.”

Isak, who has scored 62 goals in 109 appearances since joining in 2022, played a key role in Newcastle’s first domestic trophy since 1955, scoring in the Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool. Despite his current situation, Liverpool remains interested in acquiring him, having already signed Hugo Ekitike this summer.
