Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s D:ea:th: Shocking New Details Revealed
Malcolm-Jamal Warner Dies in Drowning Accident in Costa Rica
Details have emerged surrounding the tragic death of actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who drowned while on vacation in Costa Rica. Warner was caught by a strong current at Playa Grande beach in Cahuita, Limón, and was pulled from the water by bystanders. Despite efforts to rescue him, he was declared dead at the scene.
The Caribbean Guard, Costa Rica’s volunteer lifeguard organization, explained that the beach is known to be challenging for swimmers and has warning signs in both English and Spanish. They noted that recent incidents elsewhere led them to redirect resources to other beaches with powerful currents, such as Playa Negra and Chiquita. Warner’s drowning occurred very suddenly; although some beachgoers entered the water in an attempt to save him, they arrived too late.
Exactly how quickly the incident happened remains unclear, but witnesses performed CPR, which was unsuccessful. A second individual, an unidentified man also caught in the water, was left in critical condition. Authorities confirmed Warner was found without vital signs and pronounced deceased following CPR efforts. The Costa Rican Red Cross reported that three ambulances responded quickly to the scene after a 2:10 p.m. emergency call about the incident.
Warner, best known for his role as Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” was 54 years old. He is survived by his wife and daughter, whom he has kept private over the years. His cousin, Kimara, shared her heartbreak on social media, urging others to exercise caution while participating in water activities and to wear life jackets for safety.
Beyond his iconic TV role, Warner was nominated for an Emmy and recognized for his performances in series such as “Malcolm & Eddie,” “Reed Between the Lines,” and “The Resident.”
