Eddie Howe Opens Up on Alexander Isak’s Future Amid Newcastle and Liverpool Rumors

Eddie Howe Confident About Alexander Isak’s Future at Newcastle

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has expressed his belief that Alexander Isak will remain at the club despite intense transfer interest from Liverpool. The Premier League champions are reportedly willing to break the British transfer record to secure the Swedish striker, even after spending over £116 million on Florian Wirtz this summer.

Isak was notably absent from Newcastle’s initial pre-season friendly, a 4-0 defeat to Celtic. Howe explained that the decision was his alone, as he chose to send the forward home due to ongoing transfer speculation. He reassured fans, saying, “The last thing he wanted was to be sat in the stand watching, that wasn’t fair to him. But I’m confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window.”

Liverpool are keen to strengthen their attacking options and are preparing a bid for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, who reportedly favors a move to Anfield. Newcastle’s recent offer of £70 million for Ekitike was rejected, as it fell short of his release clause by £16 million.

The Reds have already made several signings this summer, including Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez. Conversely, they are also exploring outgoing transfers, with players like Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez attracting interest from Bayern Munich and Napoli, respectively.
