Stranger Attacks 51-Year-Old Straphanger in Times Square Subway — Critical Condition
Man on Life Support After Being Pushed to the Ground in Times Square Subway Station
A 51-year-old man is fighting for his life after he was assaulted in the Times Square subway station Wednesday evening. The incident occurred around 6:45 p.m. on the mezzanine level for the N, Q, and R trains, according to authorities.
During a confrontation with another man, the attacker struck the victim in the face, causing him to fall and hit his head. Initial reports do not clarify if the men knew each other before the altercation. Responding officers found the injured man with facial trauma and urgently transported him to Bellevue Hospital. He remains in critical condition and is on life support in the intensive care unit.
The suspect, described as a man with a dark complexion wearing a gray polo shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black backpack, fled the scene and has yet to be apprehended. The motive behind the assault remains unclear.
