Simone Biles Dazzles in Custom Athleta Gown at ESPYs 2025

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles made a striking impression on the red carpet of the ESPYs 2025, sporting an extraordinary gown designed through a collaboration with Zac Posen and Athleta, the activewear brand she endorses.

The gown was crafted from the same four-way stretch performance fabric as her workout leotards, ensuring both style and functionality. It featured a fitted silhouette in vibrant sparkling blue, with a square neckline, short sleeves, and an open back that paid homage to her favorite Athleta T-shirt, the open-back tee priced at $59.

The dress, adorned with hundreds of tiny bugle beads, took 25 artisans over 1,000 hours to produce, offering a blend of style and craftsmanship. Posen explained, “Using Athleta’s performance fabric allowed me to explore a new kind of couture—one that marries functionality with elegance.” He aimed to reflect Biles’s strength, movement, and identity through the design.

Biles completed her look with diamond jewelry from Effy, along with hidden Aquazzura shoes beneath her floor-length gown. Her husband, Jonathan Owens, a safety for the Chicago Bears, accompanied her for the evening.

During the ceremony, Biles was honored with two awards: Best Athlete in Women’s Sports and Best Championship Performance. “This recognition means more than you guys know,” she stated during her acceptance speech. She expressed gratitude to her teammates, coaches, family, and fans who support her journey.
