Simone Biles’ ESPYs 2025 Gown: Inspired by Her Sparkling Leotards
Simone Biles Stuns on the Red Carpet with a Custom Zac Posen Gown
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles made a striking appearance on the red carpet, donning a one-of-a-kind gown designed in collaboration with Zac Posen for the ESPYs 2025. The gown, created in partnership with Athleta—of which she is an ambassador—featured performance fabric similar to her workout leotards, emphasizing her athletic strength and elegance.
The form-fitting, sparkly blue dress showcased a square neckline, short sleeves, and an open back designed to mimic her favorite Athleta T-shirt, known as the open-back tee. This detail was intentionally crafted to reflect her personal style and activewear roots. The dress was embellished with hundreds of tiny bugle beads, requiring 25 artisans over 1,000 hours of meticulous work, according to reports.
Commenting on the creation, Posen explained, “Using Athleta’s performance fabric allowed me to explore a new kind of couture—one that marries functionality with elegance.” He added, “I wanted to make something that speaks to her power, movement, and identity.”
Paired with diamond earrings, rings, and hidden shoes from Aquazzura, Biles accessorized the gown elegantly. She was accompanied by her husband, Jonathan Owens, a safety for the Chicago Bears, who joined her on the red carpet.
Biles also took home two awards—best athlete in women’s sports and best championship performance. During her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude, saying, “The recognition means more than you guys know.” She acknowledged her support system, including teammates, coaches, family, and fans, stating, “I wouldn’t be standing here without all of you.”
In her words, collaborating with Posen was a “very special experience,” as they brought together innovation, functionality, and style to celebrate her powerful presence.
