Man United Bid £70M for Bryan Mbeumo to Beat Spurs in Transfer Race

Manchester United Increase Bid for Bryan Mbeumo to £70 Million

Manchester United has made a new effort to secure Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford by submitting an improved offer of £70 million. This follows the rejection of their previous bid of £62.5 million, which was similar to their recent purchase of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.

The current offer includes £65 million upfront with an additional £5 million in add-ons. United hopes this increased bid will persuade Brentford to agree to the transfer, as Mbeumo has expressed a strong desire to join the Red Devils. If the deal is finalized, Mbeumo would join Cunha and teenage defender Diego Leon as United’s third signing of the transfer window.

Although Mbeumo still needs to pass a medical examination, he may not be available for United’s upcoming friendly against Leeds, due to timing. However, he could join the squad for the pre-season tour to the US next week if negotiations succeed. The 25-year-old forward scored 20 Premier League goals last season and has become one of the division’s most potent attackers, having netted 70 goals in 242 appearances for Brentford since 2019.

Other clubs, including Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Tottenham, have shown interest in Mbeumo, who became a key figure under Brentford’s manager Thomas Frank. His goal-scoring ability is considered vital for United, who struggled offensively last season and scored only 44 league goals — their lowest since the Premier League’s rebranding in 1992.

Football pundits have urged United to meet Brentford’s valuation promptly. Former defender Rio Ferdinand highlighted the importance of closing the deal to avoid missing out, warning that failure could result in embarrassment for United.

Mbeumo remains a top target for United this summer amid intense transfer negotiations
