John Goodman Reveals Sad Truth About Roseanne Barr Relationship
John Goodman Reveals Long-Standing Silence with Roseanne Barr
John Goodman, the actor known for his role on the iconic sitcom, shared that he has not spoken with his former on-screen wife, Roseanne Barr, for several years and believes they may never reconcile.
“We haven’t talked for about seven or eight years,” Goodman stated, expressing doubt that Barr is interested in reconnecting.
The pair starred together as husband and wife on “Roseanne,” which originally aired from 1988 to 1997 and briefly returned for a 10th season in 2018.
Goodman reflected on the show’s revival, mentioning he didn’t expect it to last beyond a handful of episodes. “I thought it’d be a one-off, then Roseanne was fired, and I moved on to other projects like ‘The Righteous Gemstones,'” he said. However, the series was renewed again as “The Conners” after Barr’s departure, who was written out due to her controversial tweets.
Barr, now 72, has refused to accept responsibility for her 2018 tweet that compared Valerie Jarrett to an ape. She claims she was acting on divine guidance, describing her tweet as a “nuclear bomb.”
Following the controversy, ABC canceled “Roseanne” and created “The Conners” with Goodman and others reprising their roles, while Barr’s character was killed off due to her actions.
Goodman admitted he didn’t expect “The Conners” to last long, thinking it would end after a few episodes. He also expressed fond memories of working with Barr, emphasizing the show’s success during its peak.
Although Barr maintains she doesn’t harbor bitterness towards her former colleagues, she criticized their actions, stating, “They f–ked it all up with their greed and stupidity. F–k them, but I wish them well.”
