Kyle Walker Nears £5M Move After Man City Exit

Kyle Walker Nears Transfer to Burnley

Veteran England international Kyle Walker is approaching a transfer to Burnley from Manchester City in a deal valued at up to £5 million. The 35-year-old defender has agreed to rejoin Burnley manager Scott Parker, with whom he previously played at Tottenham.

Walker chose Burnley over interest from Fenerbahce to remain closer to home and avoid family disruption. The move is conditional on his passing a medical examination, which he has already started. The final transfer fee hinges on Walker featuring in at least 70% of Burnley’s league matches and the club maintaining its Premier League status.

Having built a distinguished career at City—winning six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup—Walker is also taking his talents to Burnley, their fifth signing of the summer transfer window. Recent additions include winger Loum Tchaouna from Lazio, defender Axel Tuanzebe, left-back Quilindschy Hartman, and goalkeeper Max Weiss.

Though highly successful at City, Walker’s stint in Italy with AC Milan last season was less impactful, with only 16 appearances and the club declining to make his loan permanent. His move to Milan was influenced by personal challenges, including family issues and a previously strained marriage. His form in Italy declined after an initial promising start, and he faced criticism from the Italian press.

Kyle Walker is reportedly close to completing a permanent move to Burnley

Walker earns approximately £175,000 weekly at City, though his new deal with Burnley is expected to involve a reduced salary. He might return to Manchester City as soon as September, with Burnley scheduled to play away at City early in the season.
