NYC’s Secret Drone Weapon Blasts Incoming Hostile Drones Using Cutting-Edge Net-Firing Tech!
NYC to Expand Drone Security Measures with Interception Technology
The NYPD is exploring new methods to protect the city from unauthorized drone activity by purchasing advanced detection and interception systems. The technology, developed by Maryland-based American Robotics, includes portable stations capable of locating, tracking, and neutralizing hostile drones in midair.
The system features small interceptor drones that launch lightweight nets to entangle target drones, preventing their flight. Once caught, a parachute deploys to bring the drone safely to the ground. These drone interceptors can be deployed along parade routes and at large events to enhance security and surveillance.
The system’s radar detects unrecognized aircraft, allowing operators to activate the countermeasures. A video demonstration showcases the drones tracking and capturing intruders with nets, designed to eliminate threats without harm. The equipment costs under $200,000, and the city plans to station these units throughout its districts for rapid response.
Deputy Mayor Kaz Daughtry, overseeing the city’s drone fleet, emphasizes the effectiveness of this technology. He also advocates for regulatory changes, urging federal authorities to lift restrictions that currently prevent local agencies from intercepting drones. Daughtry has held discussions with officials, including the Trump administration, to facilitate the deployment of these countermeasures.
Other agencies, like the Ukrainians, have successfully used similar tech to take down Russian drones. Additionally, the NYPD has integrated drones into operations such as crowd monitoring and crime deterrence, especially during protests and public gatherings. Daughtry highlights the versatility of drones, from tracking suspects to monitoring beaches for distressed swimmers and aiding disaster assessments.
