NYC Priest Exposed: Shocking Child Abuse Scandal from the 1980s Revealed!
Priest Removed from Clergy Following Child Abuse Allegations
A priest who served in various parishes across Queens and Brooklyn has been officially dismissed from the priesthood after an investigation confirmed allegations of child sexual abuse from the 1980s.
Father Michael McHugh, 70, was most recently a parochial vicar at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Astoria. His name will be added to the Diocese of Brooklyn’s list of credibly accused priests. As a result, he is permanently prohibited from performing any priestly duties, including celebrating Mass publicly, and he can no longer reside in church housing.
The misconduct allegations surfaced in late March and were substantiated through an internal investigation. The bishop, Robert Brennan, informed the parishioners of the decision to dismiss McHugh from the clergy. The priest was ordained in 1980 and had served at numerous churches in Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx over the years.
Bishop Brennan expressed concern over the disturbing news, emphasizing the importance of open dialogue and support for affected community members. He reaffirmed the diocese’s commitment to safeguarding children and combating abuse, highlighting ongoing prevention programs.
Anyone who has experienced clergy sexual abuse is urged to contact law enforcement or call the confidential reporting line at 1-888-634-4499 to report incidents.
