Former Liverpool Star Set for Wrexham Medical—Reynolds & McElhenney’s Championship Ambitions!
Former Liverpool Goalkeeper Set for Medical with Wrexham Ahead of Championship Debut
Wales international goalkeeper Danny Ward is scheduled to undergo a medical at Wrexham on Monday, signaling a move back to his hometown club. Ward, 32, began his career with Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground before transferring to Liverpool, and later played for Aberdeen and Leicester, where he spent seven years until his contract concluded this summer.
With 44 international caps to his name, Ward’s signing highlights Wrexham’s ambitions following their promotion to the Championship. He is expected to serve as the club’s second-choice goalkeeper, backing up Arthur Okonkwo.
Ward has experience playing in the Premier League and has also competed in the Championship during a loan spell at Huddersfield in the 2016-17 season. The current squad includes other goalkeepers such as Callum Burton and Luke McNicholas.

Wrexham’s co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are actively working on strengthening the squad, with Ward’s arrival expected to bolster their goalkeeping options.
Additionally, Wrexham is eyeing Liverpool defender Owen Beck on a loan deal this summer. Beck, who gained recognition during a loan at Blackburn Rovers last season and is related to Liverpool legend Ian Rush, could enhance the team’s defensive line.
The club’s Championship campaign kicks off with an away match against Southampton on August 9.
