Sheffield Wednesday’s Boss Decision Hinges on Rohl’s Leicester Move—Clash with Premier League Powerhouse!
Sheffield Wednesday Considers Henrik Pedersen as Next Manager Amid Possible Rohl Departure
Sheffield Wednesday is preparing to appoint assistant coach Henrik Pedersen as their new head coach if current manager Danny Rohl leaves for Leicester City. Rohl is strongly linked with a move to Leicester following the club’s recent managerial vacancy, created after Ruud van Nistelrooy’s dismissal.
The Championship club faces competition from Premier League side Brentford, which is also interested in hiring Pedersen to join their coaching staff. Rohl, who guided Wednesday to a mid-table finish after initially stepping in to prevent relegation last season, is expected to depart this summer, especially if Leicester offers him the position. However, his current contract runs until 2027, and the club would be entitled to compensation should he move.
In the event that Rohl exits, Pedersen—who has been with Sheffield Wednesday since 2023—will likely assume managerial duties immediately. Pedersen, aged 47, has previously worked under Red Bull’s football network and has gained a reputation as a skilled assistant coach. Leicester’s interest in Rohl has been apparent since the end of last season, and the German coach remains a prominent candidate for the Leicester role.
Meanwhile, Brentford’s new head coach Keith Andrews is also eager to bring Pedersen to their coaching staff, adding further complexity to the potential change.
Reflecting on his time at Sheffield Wednesday, Pedersen has expressed a desire to compete at the highest levels of football, including in the Bundesliga. He indicated that discussions about his future are ongoing but have reached an understanding with the club’s owner.
