Congressional Heated Exchange Targets Melania Trump’s Immigration and Career

Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) faced widespread criticism after making disparaging comments about Melania Trump’s modeling career and her immigration history. Crockett questioned whether the first lady genuinely qualified for what she mockingly called an “Einstein visa,” which is officially known as the EB-1 visa, meant for individuals with extraordinary achievements.

Describing Melania’s career, Crockett said she was “not at the Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford, or Naomi Campbell level,” and argued she lacked the accolades typically required for such a visa, such as Nobel awards, Pulitzer prizes, Olympic medals, or significant contributions in arts, sciences, or business.

Melania Trump, who moved to the US on an EB-1 visa in the 1990s while modeling, later became a U.S. citizen in 2006 after marrying Donald Trump. Crockett’s remarks drew immediate backlash, with many on social media condemning her comments as jealous and inappropriate. Critics argued that Crockett’s criticism was unfair and rooted in animosity, with one user stating, “She’s jealous.”

In her critique, Crockett also took a shot at the legitimacy of Melania’s achievements, implying that her career did not meet the high standards expected for such visas. She further sarcastically pointed out that “it doesn’t take an Einstein to see that the math ain’t mathin’ here,” highlighting the perceived disparity in accomplishments.
