Five Injured in Unexpected Turbulence on American Airlines Flight

Five individuals, including three flight attendants and two passengers, were hospitalized after experiencing sudden turbulence during a flight operated by American Airlines.

Flight 1286, an Airbus A321 traveling from Miami to Raleigh-Durham, encountered turbulence just as the crew began cabin service. The turbulence was abrupt and severe, prompting emergency response upon landing.

Authorities met the aircraft on the runway around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, where emergency services transported the injured for evaluation. All five have since been discharged from the hospital, according to American Airlines.

One passenger described the turbulence as extremely sudden and unexpected. “It was way quick, totally unexpected turbulence right after they started service,” said Lee Francis IV. He praised the professionalism of the crew, noting they handled the situation calmly and efficiently.
