Tragedy at Lake Tahoe: 6 Dead, 2 Missing in Boat Capsize Disaster!
Six people have died, and two others remain missing following a boat accident on Lake Tahoe amid a severe windstorm on Saturday.
The incident occurred near D.L. Bliss State Park in California when a 27-foot Chris-Craft boat capsized due to dangerous large waves caused by strong winds, prompting a rescue operation. Emergency responders reported at least 10 individuals in the water at the time.
Rescue teams managed to save two people, and a lifeguard and ranger assisted by swimming to rescue another person, who was later found deceased at Lester Beach. The Coast Guard joined the search, which is ongoing for the two missing individuals.
Witnesses described the conditions as extremely rough, with waves reaching heights of 6 to 8 feet, created by wind gusting at high speed. Local boat captains noted the waves were comparable to 30-foot ocean swells. Footage shows boats struggling amidst the turbulent water while rescue efforts are underway.
A triage station was set up by responders at Tahoe Keys Marina to treat victims, some of whom suffered hypothermia. The intense weather created dangerous conditions on the water, with reports indicating the waves were worse than typical sea storms.
Rescue operations, including helicopter and plane searches led by the US Coast Guard and El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, continue into the following day to locate the two individuals still missing. Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the victims or the missing persons.
