LOS ANGELES Taxpayers Hit with $30M Bill for Anti-ICE Protests—Shocking Cost Revealed!

Costly Anti-ICE Protests in Los Angeles Reach $32 Million

The recent anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles have resulted in an estimated expenditure of $32 million for the city. This figure encompasses police response, emergency services, cleanup efforts, and damages to public property stemming from the protests, which have significantly disrupted downtown LA.

Of this amount, approximately $29.5 million was allocated to the LAPD’s response, including tactical alert costs across the city. An additional $1.4 million covers cleanup and property damage, while the remaining funds are designated for support from the Los Angeles Fire Department, street maintenance, and other city services.

The protests gained notoriety as they erupted in response to President Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, notably centered in downtown LA. Since June 8, law enforcement reported around 561 arrests related to the unrest, with over 200 arrests occurring on June 10 alone after a citywide curfew was enacted.

Experts describe the escalation as one of the most intense since the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, driven largely by opposition to Trump’s immigration policies. The situation has involved significant clashes between demonstrators and police, highlighting a period of heightened civil unrest in the city.

The federal government has also allocated resources to manage the unrest. Earlier this month, the Pentagon announced that President Trump ordered the deployment of approximately 4,100 National Guard troops and 700 Marines to assist in maintaining order and protecting federal properties, with costs potentially reaching up to $134 million.

These deployments echo past instances, such as during the 2020 George Floyd protests and the 1992 Rodney King riots, where thousands of troops were mobilized to enforce curfews and restore peace.
