European Club Initiates Talks with Jamie Gittens Amid Chelsea’s Transfer Concerns

A leading European club has begun discussions with Borussia Dortmund’s young talent, Jamie Gittens, potentially threatening Chelsea’s efforts to secure the player. The 20-year-old forward, who scored eight Bundesliga goals last season, has attracted interest from top European sides following a breakout campaign.

Having previously been part of academies at Chelsea and Manchester City, Gittens transferred to Dortmund in 2020. His impressive performances have led to speculations that he may soon move away from Germany. Reports suggest Bayern Munich is also eyeing him, with the Bundesliga champions reportedly initiating negotiations after their sporting director, Max Eberl, left the Club World Cup early to handle transfer matters.

Sources indicate Bayern might offer around £55 million for the England U21 international, setting the stage for a bidding war with Chelsea. Although Gittens has earned 11 caps for England’s youth team, he’s not part of the European Championship squad that recently reached the semi-finals.

Gittens’s participation this week is also notable at the Club World Cup, where he was a substitute in Dortmund’s 4-3 victory over Mamelodi Sundowns. His future remains uncertain as Dortmund appears eager to retain him, intensifying the competition among top clubs for his signature.
