Fans Shocked by Crazy Beer & Food Prices at Club World Cup in Philadelphia!

Manchester City Fans React to High Food and Drink Prices at Club World Cup in Philadelphia

Manchester City supporters were greeted with the phrase “Welcome to America” but quickly expressed shock at the prices of food and beverages at the Club World Cup held in Philadelphia. During their opening match on Wednesday, which they won 2-0 against Wydad Casablanca, fans took to social media to voice their disappointment.

The match drew an attendance of 37,446 at Lincoln Financial Field, famously home to the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. Supporters shared images of the venue’s price list, revealing that a can of premium beer was priced at $16.50 (£12.30), while domestic beer cost $14.50 (£10.81). Mixed drinks topped the menu at $18.50 (£13.79), with a glass of wine at $15.50 (£11.55).

Non-alcoholic drinks also carried hefty prices, with bottled water costing $10 (£7.45) and soda $9.50 (£7). Snack prices were similarly steep, with peanuts priced at $8 (£6). Many fans expressed their disbelief at the cost, with some sarcastically commenting on the additional tips expected by vendors.

American supporters sympathized with visiting fans, noting that such prices are typical of matchday experiences in the US. One local remarked, “Trust me, we hate these prices too,” while another commented, “Welcome to the US entertainment business.”

In contrast, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, hosting the next phase of the tournament, shared their concession prices, which are relatively more affordable. A large premium beer at Atlanta costs $11 (£8.20), with regular sizes costing just $6 (£4.47). Soft drinks are priced at $4 (£3), and bottled water at $3 (£2.20). Food items like pizza slices are around $3 (£2.20), and burgers range from $6 to $9.

Fans responded positively to the more reasonable prices in Atlanta, with comments highlighting that the stadium’s ownership structure helps keep costs down. Manchester City will play at the Atlanta venue on Sunday, facing Al Ain, before moving on to face Juventus in Orlando.
